Sascha from MobilPresse.com has written a nice preview for gReader, the upcoming Google Reader client by MojosStuios, which I have been looking forward to for some time now! Originally written in German, Sascha was kind enough to send us an English version of the preview. Hit the read link for more…

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009
This one, I’m really looking forward to. As someone almost solely depending on RSS feeds to know what’s going on in the world, I was in desparate need of a good client to follow my Google Reader account on my N97, as I believe many others were. The good news is, it’s almost here! MojoStudios is on the brink of releasing gReader, a Google Reader client for Symbian S60 v3 and v5 phones. The software will be in English and German and the following devices will be supported (at first at least):
Nokia 3250, 5320, 5500, 5530, 5700, 5800, 6110, 6120, 6121, 6210, 6220, 6290, 6650, E50, E51, E60, E61, E61i, E62, E63, E65, E66, E70, E71, E75, E90, N71, N73, N76, N77, N78, N80, N81, N82, N91, N92, N93, N95, N95 8GB, N96, N97, N97 Mini and X6.

The N86 Gets v20
Friday, October 2nd, 2009A bit earlier than expected, nevertheless as a very welcome surprise to all I’d presume, N86’s v20 firmware was released the other day through FOTA.
Here’s the changelog:
Camera improvements:
- Improved still image quality
- Improved video quality
- Face detection added
- Red-eye removal added (Nokia note: “this is image processing which removes the red-eye. You need to be in red-eye reduction flash mode for it to be operational. Other flash modes it is disabled as there is a small shot to shot impact due to the extra image processing.”)
- New focus point indication - this shows where in the scene the camera is focussing
- Improved Close-up focus. (Nokia note: “As a result you will find in most situations you can focus much closer than before. The new focus point indication will also help in confirming which part of your subject is used for critical focus checking”)
Significant bug fixes to:
- Web
- Music store client
- RealPlayer
- Ovi Maps (including faster calibration of the digital compass)
- Here and Now
- N-Gage client
- Nokia Messaging
Other New Features:
- Automatic VoIP re-registration.
- Ovi Chat shortcut on the homescreen
- An new Ovi services splash screen
- An Ovi Store client (though it’s buggy, selections from the Options menu are problematic…. – best use the mobile Ovi Store site in the meantime?)
- An initial option to check for software updates when a customer first boots up the phone
Also reported, there’s more free space on C: (around 70MB with a “freshly hard resetted” phone) with v20. There’s more free RAM (around 65MB after booting).
Google Sync Finally Has Push Gmail!
Monday, September 28th, 2009

Midomi Track ID for Symbian S60v3 and S60v5
Friday, September 18th, 2009I’d heard that Midomi was heading our way (Symbian S60v3 and S60v5 users) but I learned today that it’s already here! With Midomi Track ID, like Shazam, uses your phone’s microphone to identify the track playing and present you the track name, album it’s featured on, and so on… However, unlike Shazam which can only identify official tracks, Midomi Track ID claims it can identify the track even if you sing or hum into the microphone.
Midomi is on free trial for a limited time unlike Shazam which can be downloaded from Ovi Store for… free!
You can download the S60 v3 version from Ovi Store while the v5 version can be found here.

Official video and screenshots after the break…
